ADAPT was one of a package
of 14 Initiatives adopted by the European Commission for the
period 1995-1999. Within this package, ADAPT and EMPLOYMENT were
the two Human Resource Initiatives being led by the European
Social Fund. The ADAPT Community Initiative aimed to help the
workforce adapt to industrial change, and to promote growth,
employment and the competitiveness of companies in the European
Union.
EU-wide 215 out of a total number of 3.915 ADAPT projects were
more or less related to the Textile Sector. Following table shows
the regional distribution of these projects among the member
states.
